CENTERPRISE INTERNATIONAL MEETS DETAILED REQUIREMENT FOR DESKTOP HARDWARE AND DEPLOYMENT SERVICES AT BETSI CADWALADR UNIVERSITY HEALTH BOARD
Background
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is the one of the largest health organisation in the UK, providing a full range of primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people.
BCUHB employs nearly 17,000 staff and has a budget of around £1.3 billion. They are responsible for the operation of three district general hospitals, as well as 22 other acute and community hospitals, and a network of over 90 health centres, clinics, community health team bases and mental health units. They also co-ordinate the work of 121 GP practices and NHS services provided by North Wales dentists, opticians and pharmacies.
Challenges faced
Specific tender requirements
BCUHB’s tender document was published via the National Procurement Service (NPS). BCUHB was already familiar with Centerprise International (Centerprise), as they had shown the ability to offer Best Value to the Board in other smaller projects.
Centerprise responded to BCUHB’s tender, to provide the best fit for their requirements. They recommended a high volume, comprehensive range of primarily Lenovo equipment to fulfil BCUHB’s desktop and hardware requirements:
- Desktop PC/ Terminal including Display Screen
- Lenovo M700 Tiny and Lenovo Thinkpad L460
- Monitors and stands
- Docking stations, including multi-display output
- Laser and label printers
- Accessories, including docking stations, USB keyboards and mice, and laptop cases
The right storage solution
Centerprise was awarded the contract as they met the service requirements, provided best value, and were also able to deliver the Bonded storage facility and the key logistical service specified by BCUHB. As Lenovo’s single strategic Platinum Partner and Authorised Warranty Repair Service Provider in Wales, Centerprise was also able to offer unrivalled levels of support.
BCUHB purchased all of the equipment at the start of the project through a capital spend programme, which offered economies of scale, cost stability, and consistency in the underlying technology.
Centerprise stored all of the devices and accessories at their Bonded warehouse facilities in Caerphilly, which in itself is secure to MOD standards. BCUHB benefited from having their devices stored securely, all equipment fully insured under Centerprise’s own insurance, with the ability to vary the call off in line with their irregular schedule, all at no additional cost beyond that of the devices.
Substantial savings
Storing the whole order in advance at Centerprise’s warehouse was a strategic success, saving BCUHB a lot of time and money. BCUHB can call off the devices at their own discretion in smaller quantities, and they can be on site the next day. They could, for example, order 100 devices at a time, making it easier, more efficient and predictable. They also avoided the inconvenience of going through the whole procurement process each time they needed more equipment. Centerprise’s agile, flexible solution has delivered BCUHB approximately 25% savings across the project.
Additional Centerprise services
Having an Account Manager primarily based in North Wales, Centerprise was able to offer a local service. The roll-out is still ongoing with install targets being surpassed by the BCUHB engineers. They also provide the following services:
- Bill and Hold services, with segregation of equipment
- Low call off quantities
- Local pickup from warehouse, next day delivery to site and DOA replacement
- Extended stock holding for projects Centerprise support the equipment warranty in collaboration with Lenovo, and have arranged a warranty deferral for BCUHB for up to six months.
Centerprise are Lenovo platinum partners, and have an accreditation through Lenovo’s repair centre, allowing Centerprise to fix their devices if they are outside of warranty, or if they have been accidentally damaged. .
