CASE STUDY : RUSHCLIFFE BOROUGH COUNCIL
Rushcliffe is positioned immediately south of the City of Nottingham- in which it holds borough status- and the River Trent and extends across towards Newark in the northeast and Loughborough in the southwest. It covers roughly 157 square miles (around 400 sq km) with a Borough circumference of 123.3km. With a population of 111,100, the borough owns a strong identity, laying claim as the home of iconic features in the world of sport - the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground and the City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest Football Club.
The council, Rushcliffe Borough Council, was formed on 1 April 1974. It remains based in West Bridgford, a leafy suburb, at the Rushcliffe Arena.
THE ISSUE
As the council looked to refresh their IT estate, they decided on migrating to a single IT infrastructure provider. Thus, they required assistance to securely migrate their primary and secondary servers away from NetApp and Dell EMC to a sole technology vendor.
They subsequently released a tender to acquire a partner capable of meeting their specific requirements: To design, ship all the equipment out, train the internal staff, and ensure full project migration completion before October 1st, 2020.
THE SOLUTION
Centerprise met all criteria, including providing 1-1 staff training sessions, utilising the HPE Nimble dHCI platform. Centerprise had an existing relationship with the council, which proved beneficial as communication lines and ease of familiarity were present. Additionally, a reference from a different governing body- a satisfied HPE Nimble customer who operates similarly to Rushcliffe- was significant to our successful bid. Ci offered reassurances of single support contact for the council, a hands-on approach, and prompt responses to any requirements and queries that arise.
HPE Nimble dHCI infrastructure is a disaggregated compute and storage solution that combines the flexibility and the simplicity of HCI to promote fast app performance, always-on data resilience, and resource efficiency to deliver supreme simplicity for digital environments:
- Easily Managed
In the vCenter console, you have VM-centric data services and resource management that doesn’t require any separate appliances or element managers. - Easily Supported
With HPE InfoSight, you have full-stack predictive analytics and support automation working for you that predicts and prevents issues – and auto routes any complex issue directly to L3 Nimble Storage support. - Easily Scaled
New storage and servers get added to the cluster for scale-out, non-disruptively and transparently to applications.
HPE added value by up-cycling Rushcliffe Council’s old IT estate and provided monetary value on the existing NetApp arrays- this focus on sustainability was crucial to the council.
